Chippenham College students
win film competition
Students from across the South West have been competing in the Europass Viral Video Competition. The competition has been launched to help budding young film-makers have an opportunity to use their design and media skills and to increase awareness of opportunities available to young people throughout Europe.
The winning team, iTeam, from Chippenham College have been awarded an all-expenses paid film course of their choice at the National Media Museum in Bradford.
“We were really very impressed with the standard of the films that we received”, stated Frazer Wallace, the National Co-ordinator for Europass, “We will be running the competition again next year and can’t wait to see what is submitted.”
The competition asked students to develop a short film promoting Europass, a European wise initiative that helps young people promote their skills and competencies, and attracted interest from across the whole South West.
“Colleges from Plymouth through to Cheltenham got in touch with us“, commented Caroline Starke, a freelance designer project managing the competition for Europass, “and I was astounded by the level of expertise that was displayed by the films that were entered. We have some really talented young film makers out there!”
The films were judged on their originality, visual, impact, presentation, quality and effectiveness in marketing the Europass to the target audience.
The winning team from Chippenham College were awarded their prize on Thursday 15th December 2011 while a team from Bath College picked up second prize.
The winning video, along with the runners up are now avaliable on the Europass Youtube channel.
