It is the world's largest, international skills competition. The conference is open to everyone; however it is specifically aimed at young people interested in finding out more about careers in skills. There are opportunities for individuals to "Have a Go" at dozens of skills and to meet with companies to discuss how they can help individuals and what skills they look for.</p> <p>Visitors can win an iPod Nano by visiting stand 178 and taking part in the daily Europass challenge!!</p> <p>For more information please visit: <a href="http://www.uknec.org.uk/worldskills/">http://www.uknec.org.uk/worldskills/</a></p> <h2>Certificate Supplement Event</h2> <p>The UK NEC recently held a Certificate Supplement event at our offices in Cheltenham. Those in attendance were Awarding Organisations, key stakeholders and a representative from the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB).</p> <p>The aims of the event were to:</p> <ul> <li>raise awareness of the Certificate Supplement</li> <li>provide a platform to discuss the benefits and challenges of the Certificate Supplement</li> <li>consider how the UK NEC can provide assistance to Awarding Organisations with the implementation process</li> <li>provide the UK NEC with an opportunity to learn more about Awarding Organisations' processes</li> </ul> <p>Feedback from attendees reflects that the event was a success. As a result of this event, close working collaborations will continue between UK NEC, Awarding Organisations and FAB to raise the uptake of the Certificate Supplement.</p> <h2>Viral Video Competition</h2> <p>In October 2011 we are launching the Europass Viral Video Competition.</p> <p>The aim of the competition is to produce a 90 second ûlm that will be readily circulated to others through video sharing websites and email. The video will focus on specific strap lines which highlight the benefits of Europass. The ûlms will be used to promote Europass and to encourage individuals to use its documents.</p> <p>Applicants may be individuals or small groups of students (up to a maximum of four people) currently enrolled at a UK institution and there will be a prize awarded to the applicants with the best video. Interested parties can ûnd out more about the competition, download the full brief and terms and conditions, and register online now at <a href="http://www.uknec.org.uk/viralvideo/">http://www.uknec.org.uk/viralvideo/</a>.</p> <p>Please note that registration will close on Monday 28th November and the submission date is Wednesday 30th November 2011.</p> <h2>All-Ireland Diploma Supplement Event in Belfast</h2> <p>Following the success of the events held in Edinburgh and Shrewsbury last year, there will be an all-Ireland Diploma Supplement event held in Belfast on the <b>16th November 2011</b>. The event is being organised and funded by the UK NEC in collaboration with the British Council, the National Europass Centre for the Republic of Ireland, and the Higher Education Authority for Ireland.</p> <p>The purpose of the event is to promote Diploma Supplement uptake and discuss implementation. Speakers will include:</p> <ul> <li>Bologna Experts from both Ireland and the United Kingdom</li> <li>Representatives from the Burgess Group discussing the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)</li> <li>A Diploma Supplement Label holder from the UK</li> <li>A speaker from the Education, Culture and Audio-visual Executive Agency (EACEA talking about implementation of the Diploma Supplement across Europe</li> <li>The NECs presenting the Europass Portfolio</li> </ul> <p>The venue for the event is the Lanyon Building on the main Campus of <b>Queens University in Belfast</b> and will run from 9am to 4pm on the 16th November 2011. Anyone from the UK and Ireland who is interested in finding out more about the Diploma Supplement is invited to attend.
